Description
Landing nipples are manufactured with specific internal profiles. The most common profile types, among others, are X, XN, R, and RN. Landing Nipples run in the tubing string and provide predetermined locations where downhole control devices can be landed and retrieved by wire line or coiled tubing.
The landing nipples are short sections of heavy walled tubing with machined internal surfaces that provide a seal area and a locking profile. Landing nipples are included in most completions at predetermined intervals to enable the installation of flow-control devices, such as plugs and chokes.
