Description
A pup joint is a pipe of non-standard length used to adjust the length of tubular strings to its exact requirement. Pup joints are commonly used to adjust the length of the drill string to the elevation of the rotary table for easy surface handling and drilling practices.
Pup joints undergo the same stresses as drill pipe and their performance depends primarily on their superior mechanical properties.
